2008 NXT LEGO Robotics Summer Camp in Richmond, VA at Benedictine High School
The Benedictine High School FRC team, the Holy Rollers, will be holding summer camps based on the FLL challenge from 3 years ago. The camps are mornings only during the weeks of June 23-27, July 21-25, and August 4-8 and are aimed at rising 4th-8th graders. No FLL experience necessary. 2008 NXT LEGO Robotics Summer Camps in Northern Virginia (Oakton and Loudoun)
Here are two NXT Based Camps in Northern Virginia using the 2007 Power Puzzle Challenge as a backdrop.

The Robotics Camp features LEGO Mindstorms robots. Campers will design and build autonomous robots, learn programming and presentation software, work in teams, master tasks, and share in a themed robotic adventure with the other participants. This year’s theme will be Power Puzzle, and participants will explore how personal energy choices impact the environment, economy, and life around the globe. Students will examine the effects of heating our homes, fueling our cars, charging our cell phones, powering our computers, and even downloading music to our iPods. Using curriculum developed at Carnegie Mellon, participants will create and use robots as they delve into the timely questions raised by the “Power Puzzle.”

River City Robotics Summer Day Camp 2008 in Richmond, VA (open to older FLLers)
River City Robotics (formerly Vex for Noobs) is offering two weeklong day camp sessions this July. Each will expose students to the basics of robotics operation and design, while building fundamental skills that can be applied to all aspects of their lives. All students with an interest in math, science, and/or engineering are encouraged to enroll. Students ages 13-17 will engage in hands-on activities and classroom exercises geared toward a competitive challenge at the end of each week. Both sessions will be held at VCU’s School of Engineering on the corner of Main St. and Belvidere Blvd. in Richmond, Virginia.
Registration for each session is $200 if postmarked by June 30th and includes lunch and the use of all materials necessary. After June 30th, registration will increase to $250. Space is limited to 30 students each week.

LEGO Build-off to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Danville, VA
We are looking for LEGO enthusiasts of all ages!
Each participant has from now until August 2, 2008 to build a LEGO® masterpiece. On the 2nd, each participant will display his or her masterpiece from 10am-1pm at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Each display will have a jar in which the public will put money depending on how good they think the LEGO® masterpiece is. The person with the most money in his or her jar wins the grand prize! Every participant will receive a prize for their efforts. Only the first 100 people to register will get to participate. Registration begins May 27, 2008. Participants may work in groups of up to three people and there is no age limit. The categories this year are "Most Money Raised", "Most Original", "Most Creative", "Most Complex", "Fastest LEGO Robotic Masterpiece", and "Morgan's Favorite". All proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
